Grant Conspiracy -
I don't remember when I was first introduced to American Music Club but it didn't take long for me to root out all the available recordings shortly after the first hearing.
When we had the chance to take part in this tribute, I was immediately enthusiastic. The only problem presented itself as to which one of the many great songs could we try to do. It came down to the last possible moments in the studio before we had a decision on "Will You Find Me."
In attempting do our version of this song, my thought was to see if we could capture what I sensed was the tension between the longing and self-loathing found in the plea of "will you find me." It is this kind of tension that attracts me to this music.
The songs of AMC are full of brilliant observations, self-depreciating humor, honesty, bombast, pain, grandeur, romance and life. It is the expression of a band that makes music the only way it can; the sum of its parts creating a group alchemy that could only happen at the time and place
it occurred with the people involved. It’s a potent look into another's experience that causes us to examine our own in a different light. There is emotional power in this music. It can be visited again and again and reveals itself differently each time. There is a resonance in this music that strikes me as being truthful to the unique nature of its creators.
I am honored to have participated.
